Annual Rock Climbing Weekend Retreat at Devil's Lake State Park
During the autumn months, when the weather is cool and mother nature shows her true colors, we partner with Apex Adventure Alliance to host a rock climbing weekend retreat for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families at Devil's Lake State Park in Baraboo, WI. We truly believe there's no better teacher than Mother Nature, nor better classroom than the great outdoors, to experience how no wall, no matter how tall, should stand in the way of our ability to overcome life's obstacles and achieve our goals.
Rock Climbing is a safe yet physically and mentally demanding sport that tests one's strength, endurance, agility, and balance while using problem solving skills and hand-eye coordination to successfully navigate a route to the top. Simply put; by experiencing an opportunity to take calculated risks it helps develop independent living skills necessary for those with intellectual and developmental disabilities succeed in life to the best of their abilities. And what better forum for families to network, share life stories, and form life-long friendships than relaxing around a warm campfire on a cool autumn night after a day of hiking and climbing. Book Steve and he'll share heart-warming stories of climbers who simply wouldn't give up on their way to the top.
The climbing retreat is offered once a year in the fall. Therefore pricing, dates, and details will be finalized based on the number of attendees signed up.
